Default Leaking from new Berk HFC

I've got an exhaust leak coming from where the Berk HFC meets the stock exhaust..can't seem to get it to go away. I've torqued the bolts to 35lbs like the instructions say..also tried up to 45 lbs..I tried letting it cool and re torquing but that still does nothing. I have the Berk gasket between the 2. I've cleaned around the stock exhaust to get any rust off and I'm running out of ideas. I'm trying to stay away from using any type of liquid gasket if that's possible.

Take off the HFC and give it a leak down test. Or smoke test with exhaust as is

To do a smoke test I would need a smoke machine right? When I took the cat off to do some cleaning there was a little area towards the bottom if the flange that was blackish...but the rest wAs still clean.

the OEM gasket between exhaust and cat is an o-ring type gasket. IIRC there is no paper or metal flat gasket that goes inbetween.

^correct! Op, I've used a paper style gasket material in the past. Basically traced the triangle gasket onto the material and cut it out; it worked quite well. G/L!

I had to use three or four triangle gaskets to bridge the gap between my Berk TP and my OEM exhaust so that it wouldn't have an exhaust leak anymore. Crude, but it worked.
