Default Learn me about hardtops

Hello all,

I've found a hardtop locally. Comes with all the hardware except the defrost plug which I'll acquire later.

I haven't taken a look at it in person but it looks clean. I wanted to ask how the hardtop pricing goes - it's an OEM top.

As far as price goes: do you guys treat it as an asking and allow room for negotiation or is it normal to spend $3k-ish on a good condition OEM top? I don't want to disrespect the seller.

Cheers!

A Clean OEM hardtop that doesn't have any damages, and hasn't been repainted with all the hardware goes from $3000-4000. At least in Canada from what i've seen.

$3000 to 3500 is an average price for the S2000 top assuming the top and paint are in good shape.

As they say, everything is negotiable! I have a hardtop that I am going to be selling soon though so I hope these prices are accurate $$$

Thanks for the quick replies everyone,

I settled on a price tonight so I'm now the proud owner of an OEM top! Actually comes to it's the defrost plug - he kept it in storage for a while and forgot, and the back window is tinted!

I'm a happy camper. now I just need to wait becaue lime green doesn't exactly work with Silverstone...

Sure it does!

I rolled around like this two years ago until I got it painted.

Congrats on the top! It's one of my favourite things I've done to the car... amongst the 100's of other things, haha.

Of course, it was only for a few weeks until I dropped it off for paint, but the looks/expressions/questions I got were totally worth it.

Good luck TeslaChicken! They are pricey, but IMO no aftermarket hard top looks remotely as good as the OEM.

I bought one when when I living in Norfolk VA. In 2009 I found a mint Suzuka OEM HT, all the hardware and the OEM stand for $2250. Times are a changing' I guess. But it was great for VA - too cold in winter and too hot in summer for top down. Since I moved to Cali 4 years ago my HT has not been on once and is just collecting dust. Probably gonna sell it and hopefully make a tidy profit.
