Default License Plate Plugs HELP!

OK, so I have the license plate plugs, but when I removed the front license plate one of the two sets of holes where the plugs are inserted are missing some type of threaded insert that the plug tabs actually secure to. It looks similar to the "plugs" you insert into drywall when you need to hang a picture and you need to secure the screw, so you drill a hole and then push in this "plug" so the screw has something to screw into. Hope that doesn't make it more confusing. Anyway, does anyone know what this part is???

Thanks,

John

It's a metal part that is threaded for both holes. Your honda dealer probably has one. Don't know the part number.

You can just glue them in place too. A tiny drop of gorilla glue on the center part of the plug does the trick

Except I would use something easy to remove, like Silicone caulk (Home Depot). That way if you ever need to put the plate on again, you dont have any hassle. Plus Silicone is crystal clear, so no worries if a bit is visible.

That Gorilla stuff is crazy strong, I can see it tearing up the bumber trying to get the plugs out if you ever need to.

I wouldn't take off the plugs ever again, I would just build a tow hook license plate mount.

Was the license plate mounted using the original mounting points? If so, the piece may have just fallen into a lower part of the bumper cover. That happened to me after someone bumped my S while it was parked.

When I got my S I had the same issue. I took the bumper off ( not that challenging ) and found the two backing plates. I did glue those in place, put the plugs on, replaced the bumper, and hit 8k.
