I've not seen mention of the Comptech flywheel. Excellent product for the S2000. All steel, light weight, wears well. I replaced my clutch disk last year and the pressure plate (ACT) and flywheel (Comptech) were both in excellent condition and the disk was gone.

Comptech is great if you can find one. When I emailed them back in Nov07 they said they would be back in production in 2 weeks...2 weeks later I contacted them again and they said it would be 2 weeks.

I ended up buying a Spoon, which is the same weight. HOWEVER, once I received the Spoon, I realized that they are the same 9.2lb flywheel that is sold on ebay for $240.

I would love to see the effects of a heavier than normal flywheel. During shifts your flywheel is essentially a potential energy storage device. I would like to see a comparison between a car's ability to rev faster with a lighter flywheel vs the stored energy during shifts that is transmitted back to the wheels once the clutch is engaged again. I'd imagine a heavier flywheel would have you chirping tires like a mad man and potentially breaking diffs.

A lightweight flywheel is more than likely my next mod, since my stock clutch has 110,000 miles on it, and I can feel it slip after my 3rd or 4th hard autox launch.

I'm going to try to score a comptech flywheel. If I can't get one of those, I'll probably spring for a spoon. I just cant bring myself to putting in an ebay or aluminum flywheel...something about a disk covered in teeth spinning at 9000 rpm right at my ankles tends to make me want to go ahead and not skimp out and go cheap here

for the record, fidanza flywheels are pretty decent. I've probably got a combined 100k miles on the two I have in my 3000GT and Stealth with no problems.

8 pound Findanza FTW! Save your clutch and increased capacity is another nice feature. Crank shaft main bearing life extended. More hp to the wheels, better engine response to name a few. My clutch was slipping on hard shifts and digs, but no more since. Its been over two years now with still no slippage, amazing. Stupid 14pound stock flywheel! Its worth more in its original iron billet form. Ap2 has something even more ridiculously heavy, like near 20pounds! I drove an 07 recently and was so anoid with how slow the rpms dropped between shifts. To those who say a 8 pound flywheel is too extreme, i say learn to drive and reap the benny's.
