Default looking for advice with Ap2 tranny

Hey guys, I'm not typically one to create a 'need advice' thread, but after searching I thought I'd ask here for some extra input from the experts

Background:
The tranny in my MY00 AP1 (75k miles) just started making quite a bit more noise, and after doing a bit of research and listening to the car I'm convinced that my output shaft bearings are starting to go. I realize this is something that can be fixed without pulling the tranny, but 2nd gear has been notchy for a while and I'm thinking this might be a good opportunity to drop in an AP2 transmission instead. I've found a local AP2 transmission from a MY06 with 60k miles on it for $700, which seems like a decent deal assuming it's in good working condition, but I'm a little hesitant to spend $700 on an unknown.

Question:
Is there anything specific I should be looking for when I inspect this unit? The seller has said that the tranny is out of a MY06 with rear end damage (still has the car as proof). Assuming everything looks good and I pick it up, what preventative measures should be taken while the tranny is still out of the car?

Thanks for your input! I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

-VR,
Jmart

Filler up with some new gear lube and you'll have to change the output flange on the new tranny with your old AP1's or you will have to buy an AP2 drive shaft and AP2 diff OR get an AP2 input flange for the diff to install on your AP1 diff.

just check the vin on the tranny if it matches the the car he say if comes from. then remove the drain bolt and see if there's any metal or watsoever.

i would just swap out the flange on the tranny instead bcause it's easy and faster rather than having to buy a driveshaft and a diff or buying a driveshaft and swapping the diff flange would throw off the diff.

My ap2 tranny was delivered today to the place who will do my swap. (my05 52k miles)

I've had noisy bearings for about 8 months now. Gonna sell my 01 unit cheap locally, and put in a new oem clutch, pp, and comp clutch 9lb flywheel while im at it. We'll see how things turn out next week.
