I remember reading an article in 1999 or 2000 about someone putting on just a Borla exhaust and an open air filter on an S2000 and getting like 15 to 25 Hp out of it. Guess there was no truth to that article? I wish I could find it...

Sorry, I don't want to throw a wrench into the mess, but have you thought about the Apexi World Sport 2? I just installed one on MY01 and it sounds and looks great.
I looked at a Borla and almost bought one. I had some great history with Borla from my racing days, so I can tell you they make a really fine exhaust. It is not too loud and has very little if any drone.
That all being said, some of our fellow members suggested I look at the Apexi WS2, Fujisubo and the V4. After doing some research I decided upon the Apexi and so far I am happy I did. It is not much louder than stock, but it is much deeper in sound. Fitment is great and installation was a breeze. The only issues you may have is the mandral bent pipes are made out of mild steel and coated with titanium impegnated coating vs. all stainless steel system. Over the long run I did not think the differance in price between the Borla and the Apexi was worth it. As for pricing well I paid $639.00 (from Evassive Motor Spotrs). This price also included shipping.
As for the Fujisubo was again more than I wanted to pay and I just loked the sound better on the Apexi over the Invidia V4.
I hope I did not mess you up. Good luck.
