I'm not sure how he manages to break the kicS, but I have r40's snd I had my arp extended wheelstud break before the lug nut would. The lugnuts seem to be fine and plenty strong.

the pictures posted are not of them getting stripped--they are breaking at the barrel it appears. it seems to me if you overtorque, they can break in the middle. also, many pics are blocked (wish people would stop using photobucket and other services) where i work, but it seems all the broken ones are r40's, not r26's. i think r40's probably have more of a problem because of the stress over the length. there was also one person complaining about stripping the studs and stripping the lugs too--hard to say which stripped first.

anyway, i use the r40 on my evo and s2000, both of which get tracked, and between them i must have removed the wheels 50-100 times. AND using a impact wrench. i use the r26 on my ae86.

i torque them to 85ft/lbs with a calibrated high-end snapon torque wrench, so though the torque is high, they are never over tightened.

one observation though, of something that does bother me, if you happen to have long studs so you can see this, you'll notice that sometimes the lugs are not centered on the studs due to the threading being cut off center. that does bug. but no problems yet.
