Default modified exhaust

ok because the stock exhaust isnt really restrictive, i have a couple options here... i can either cut off the stock mufflers, and weld on new aftermarket ones, cut the resonater, or drill the exhaust... im not trying to do the third option.... but im just putting it out there.

any opinions?

Some people have cut the resonator and been happy, buy itll still be quiet. I dont know a lick about the other two options though.

For my first exhaust setup, I cut out the stock mufflers and had some magnaflows welded in. Sounded good. With a TP it got a little raspy up top and droned quite a bit down low.

Here's a couple old videos taken. They aren't that great but give you an idea...

So no droning with just the magnaflows on there? cats generally have a major resonating effect on the exhaust, which I'm sure is why you got droning with a tp.

Wow, the Magnaflow doesn't sound bad at all. Just a little to high pitched for me. For you, I say to cut off the mufflers and go with Magnaflow.

From everything that I've read, TP's usually HELP with droning, not cause more. At least this is what everyone has said about the Invidia exhausts.

But to be completely honest, I've never had the cat on while I had a custom/aftermarket exhaust on. It's always been stock exhaust w/cat or custom/aftermarket w/TP.

I still have stock exhaust but with the megan resonated test pipe. Removed all droning with the stock system.

uh, not quite sure what you're expecting, but this is a low displacement 4banger......it's not going to growl like a v8 in the powerband (6krpm+)

That's kinda the cool thing about this motor. I actually like the fact that it sounds like it does. It makes the sound more exotic. Obviously not like ferrari or F1 exotic, but still.
