I didn't have any issues installing mine, it's been a year now and they're still taught and the top goes all the way down still.

Very easy install. You must have missed a step or wrapped them too many times or something. Should be very straightforward.

Installed mine today, installation was very easy following the instructions. Wondering how long these will last as they are quite a bit stretched with the top up

I have a my2000 with a glass top now. My straps are worn and don't do much. I just push the one bar a bit as the top is folding down (or, sometimes I don't push it at all) and it's fine. I've never been bothered by the fact that the top stays an inch or two higher when it's folded down. Not a big deal.

Having the bar not in the right position will wear holes in your top over time.

Only issue i had was my top was replaced with OEM and frame as well... i guess they didnt push rivets in all the way so one side of my car the straps only went in about 3/4 of the way so they dont sit flush. But luckily this is where you wrap the new material around once so it doesnt affect the top when opening or closing.

One of my first "mods" to the '06 I purchased last summer. Just a bit of finesse needed to fit them. You can probably cobble some elastic together yourself, but why bother when these are available and ready to fit?

This took me about 30 minutes to install including the time looking for scissors with the blunt tips. Very straight forward. My top now folds all the way down and the tonneau cover fits very easily over the folded top. The 9 year old originals had very little stretch left.

I bought a couple pairs for the two S2000 in the household. Went on the 2006 no problem, as described. The MY2000 top frame doesn't seem to work with these though. There is a canvas strap in the way, connecting to the rearmost bar that the elastic is supposed to attach to. The original elastic cord is actually sandwiched between the soft top frame and this canvas strap. Granted, this is definitely not the original top (PO had it replaced), but i can't imagine them changing the strap setup. I spoke with Bob @ Modifry and his MY2000 was unlike mine.

Anybody else have a similar top?

Bob's car (and pretty much every other car)

My (dirty) car. notice the extra strap & fabric between the two frame rails
