Default Muffler for the S

I am researching exhausts for my S2000. I hate the low (FAKE) hum at low to mid RPM that just about every after market cat back seems to have. I am looking for a more raw sound. Not too loud and not boomy at lower RPMs. I'd like to be able to drive through a parking lot with out setting off anyone's rice alarm.
So, easiest thing would be to replace just the muffles. Anyone have any idea about how a muffler like this would sound? It is a straight through Dynomax.

There are some guys on here that replaced their mufflers with magnaflow or flowmasters. I think it sounds really good but its for sound, not performance. If you just want sound and dont care much for more power go for it. Go look on YouTube and search s2000 mufflers and I think there are a few clips of some.

Here is the sound I want. Maybe not as loud. Notice the lack of fart/rice hum, especially at start-up?

Does he even had a muffler? I don't see a tailpipe anywhere. Maybe he's just running a resonator.

I bet that he has the stock exhaust just with the mufflers cut off in those videos. Well I say whatever you think you want to do, give it a try man. I would personally get some magnaflows if you just want the sound. Here is a link to a guy that welded some on. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=461467&st=0

The Mugen exhaust sounds really good not ricey at all. But it will cost an arm and a leg. Another option would be to cut the stock resonator off and patch the hole an add atest pipe. There was a video on youtube of a guy wth this set up. It sounded good not too loud either.

good luck with whatever you decied to do

I'm not sure why you say off the shelf mufflers have no performance. There's nothing magical about a muffler, really. A straight-thru design is as good as any.

Well the only reason I say that is because there are some exhaust's out there with even a slightly larger diameter piping and dont really add performance on the s2000, exeption of the weight you save. Just mufflers might give you a few HP but nothing real noticable.

I've done the resonator removal on the stock exhaust before I went with an aftermarket exhaust. Does sound better...Best way to explain it would be is the exhaust evens out the sound coming from the engine. Where the stock exhaust with the resonator, the engine takes over the sound and the exhaust is silent in the mid to higher rpms.

Also heard stock S with replaced mufflers(magnaflow) before he went with the t1r exhaust. not as great of a sound as I had hoped. A little louder at idle though and a great rumble at start up.

That driveway(in the 1st video) is bad ass...I need a driveway like that!!!
