Default Mugen replica intakes...

Have seen some different versions of the CF Mugen replica intake. I've done plenty of searching and can't find the answers I need...

1)What is the noise difference compared to the OEM box? I'm looking for something a bit louder, but nothing too crazy like the K&N.

2)As for different makes, I was looking at one from E-auto and a few other vendors, are they all the same brand?

3)Besides cutting the hood to get the intake, are there any other mods that have to be done to the car, can I use the factory rubber hose?

Thanks for any help!

1) can't answer, never installed mine.

2) let me see if i can answer, i ordered mine from partshelper, came with intake and bracket, you will need to source your own screws

3) only thing you need is to cut the hood , you can use factory intake arm

I was under the assumption that you'll either need to cut a hole in the stock radiator air guide or use an aftermarket cooling plate?

1. the only mod you will have to do it the hood cutting. as for the hoses. i am pretty sure you can use your stock hoses but i took all mine and replace it with the hose i got from pepoys.

2. you have to drill a hole 2 or 4 to be exact on the member brace (i dont know whats it called the bar in the middle

3. no there is no difference between the damn 2 intake. MUGEN or MUGEN replica (mugen style.

I used to have the mugen style for at least 1 year then swap it with the Real Mugen intake.. (sh!t no freakin difference)

FYI: if you decide to get the intake make sure you get the one with the metal side like the actual MUGEN. There are 2 version of the Mugen replica one with the fiber glass side which will crack, and the Metal side one looks just like the real mugen you wont be able to tell the difference.

With the Mugen Rep I only had to drill holes in the support bracket for the intake? I did not drill the cross member. It was easy to do and only took a few minutes to install. Cutting the hood isn't that bad (just dont try it with a cordless dremel )

There is a difference in the Replicas. One version had a plastic piece that mounted to the filter, I like the one with the metal piece better its more sturdy and you donat have to worry about breaking/cracking it if you over tighten (but you could crack the CF so only tighten it to a snug fit, dont tourque the hell out of it )

Thanks for all the inputs guys. As for the cutting, is there any template I can go by somewhere on the site, or do I just cut away? I did the AP2 taillight conversion on my old AP1, which required steal, so I'm actually looking forward to just cutting aluminum.

Ya it took me all night to cut my hood at Tommy's house, and I had to call out of work the next day due to lack of sleep it was like, charge the dremel.... cut for 5-10minutes.... take a nap while it charges then repeat over and over. I started cutting at 1130pm and finished at about 8am )

We only had the thin cutting bits too and the break after about 2-3 minutes of cutting.

After that I went and bought a corded dremel

here is the link for the template
