Default Mugen SS Wing... Genuine or Replica?

Hi there.

I bought my s2000 some months ago, and talked to the 1st owner a week ago.

I got a Mugen SS wing installed to the car, and 1st owner told me that it was genuine Mugen one.

The thing is that the wing is full painted (even the sides) so i don´t know if it is real Mugen or the Seibon CF one.

Do you guys know if there is any way to know this?

Best regards.

If it's been painted there'd no way to tell unless you see a badge or something from mugen

Authentics have no badge, the center is frp and the sides are carbon. Only way to tell is remove paint.

I bet there is a weight difference, minimal as it may be, may help distinguish authentic from any others. Someone who has an authentic should weigh theirs and post it, so there can be a definitive answer to this question. I see this question posted all the time!!

well I'm not sure about the fake ones, but my wing is mounted with 2 bolts that go through what used to be a pair of dimples which mark where the oem decklid is mounted as well.

My seibon mounted the same way. Just all carbon, not just the end caps.

i'm interested to find out if the full carbon seibon is actually heavier or lighter than the real thing...

if you guys really want to make this the official "how to tell seibon vs. Mugen SS wing thread" you can even take some pictures with a tape measure. Most of the time the replicas are 100% copies, but sometimes they copy is a slightly different design or dimension. For example, the seibon wing could be 0.5" shorter on each side, making it very hard to notice by the naked eye.
