Default My Megan Resonated testpipe has broken!

Hi all

I've been hearing strange rattling noises coming from underneath the car these last couple of weeks.
Turns out that it's the test pipe..
I removed it, and sure enough, it rattles badly when I shake it.
It seems that the internal resonator has broken or something.

I was planning to take it to an exhaust workshop, cut the resonator, and replace it with a straight piece of pipe.

Will this be ok? How will the sound be affected?

Thanks

Just buy a new good quality test pipe. The megan test pipe resonators suck and always break and rattle. Just get an Invidia or Berk pipe for around $100 with the CEL fix and call it good.

2ndtimeround is right..these parts aren't found over the counter locally;
And anyway,
Why should i spend 100 $ + on a simple pipe?

All I need to do is to weld a pipe instead of the resonator...

If the only effect is a slightly louder exhaust note, then I have no problem with that.

I always thought my mugen exhaust was too quiet anyway.

I have (had installed, upgraded to a new exhaust though) the Megan test pipe w/o resonator.... it was the best part of the exhaust. welds broke on the rest of it almost once a month.

See if you can gut it. It's just a pipe.

Welds kept breaking off?
How does that make it the best part of the exhaust?

Megan is I've seen a few of these crack personally.

A really good and cheap test pipe is Invidia.

i agree. my test pipe is solid though. welds have good penetration, and metal isn't brittle. i do not have the resonated kind. i have the straight pipe seen here next to my new setup
