Default My new custom rollbar

I track my S2000 and after 4 events I decided a rollbar and harness is necessary to bump up the safety and allow me to use my HANS with a 6-pt harness. I had several specific goals I wanted to achieve with this project:

1. Safety on the track - ability to use a harness and my HANS.
2. Allow me to run with more clubs and at VIR, where rollbars are required for convertibles.
3. The interior and center console must remain intact and fully functional and not be chopped to hell.
4. The harness bar must be in a correct position (at or below shoulder level).
5. It must look good - I wanted it painted to match the color of my car - Suzuka Blue.
6. The soft-top must work normally.
7. Retain my stock seats - I did not want to spend $2,500 for a pair of race seats + rails. This required modifying the stock seat to accomodate the shoulders and sub-belt of the harness.

All in all, I am thrilled with the results. It looks great and almost none of the interior needed to be trimmed (except the seat bottom and headrest grille).

Check out the pictures....

Impressive.

Looks like you don't have much "reclinablity" though...

SCCA doesn't allow cutting of the seat to accomodate the harness.

Was this roll bar custom made, or purchased "off the shelf"? If purchased, from whom? I'm looking for a roll bar for my 2007 that involves minimal cutting/modifications. Most that I've seen are quite involving to install and require taking the top out. I only track 2-4 times a year but would like the added safety of a roll bar.

Regards,
Christopher

Unless you wear a helmet everywhere you go... (still not as good as racing seats + helmet + rollcage + harness, but better)
