my polar bear tuning intake manifold and tb write up
i made a post a while back for some carb legal items and speedjunky01 refereed me to polarbeartuning.com. so tested them out. pretty much i needed items that would pass california smog visual/test.
originally i was looking for a gutted intake manifold but chris in polarbeartuning was not comfortable with gutting the intake, welding it up and grinding off the welds, which makes alot of sense. i got everything back from the a while ago, just had no time to install it, plus working on my other cars, but now the s2000 is on the que. so anyhow the work i pretty much had them do to the intake manifold is plenum and runners porting/blending as well as port match to the throttle body. i also had them work on a throttle body for me, pretty much they made it with the spoon tb diagram i gave them, its a 70mm tapered style and they cut me out a new throttle plate. they gave me a good price for everything, the throttle body cost a little less then a skunk2 tb, but looks stock. forgot to mention that chris at pbt gave me a free thermal gasket for my tb to manifold
anyhow i plan to install everything on Wednesday. will be do a pre-install dyno before then, and a post-install dyno ofc.
the pre-install dyno will be with pretty basic mods, since i only have a few:
baseline dyno:

199.81 hp 138.77 ft-lbs
comptech exhaust
aem cai
bosch +4 spark plugs
will do updates when the dyno happens
fyi im not affiliated with them anyhow but they are nice people so just trying to do a write up, maybe send business their way
some pics pre-install (yeah its my camera phone, and that ruler was the only thing metric i could find @_@ )

install pics:
manifold in just need the to get the tb in. forgot to mention that chris at pbt gave me a free thermal gasket for my tb to manifold

side by side comparison with the stock tb:

turns out the tps is riveted onto the tb, didnt know that. the one that pbt gave me had the tps removed so they could work on it safely, a quick trip to homedepo got my these m5 bolts that fit the thread, and some form-a-gasket for a perfect fit

installed and ready:

resetting ecu and letting car idle now. dyno next week, since i am busy until then
weird part of the install was the check engine light went on then off by itself. i was expect it to stay on until i cleared it.
post install dyno:

200.76 hp 140.69 ft-lbs
comptech exhaust
aem cai
bosch +4 spark plugs
pbt machine worked intake manifold
pbt 70mm throttle body
+0.95 hp +1.92 ft-lbs
a few things about the 2nd dyno. before the 1st dyno i was driving kind of hard, might of set the ecu to a more agressive map, just did a 2000 mile trip going 85+. the 2nd dyno was after the install, i had to reset the ecu, and wasnt driving very aggressive since i was trying to do the dyno on the same tank of gas.
like i posted way down the line, the car is alot more responsive and there is a noticeable vacuum sound coming from the intake cone, hopefully when i s/c there will be a great additional effect compared to stock. was cheaper then a name brand exhaust, and similar results

I'm not familiar with any real dangers of those plugs, but I definitely would NOT consider anything from Bosch to be as good as the NGK plugs that are available for us.

I would highly recommend getting those bosch +4 spark plugs out of your motor as quickly as possible.

I would listen to the three wise men here bro. I've pulled probably 50 bosch plugs out that had dropped the center electrode in the past ten years. 99% of the time it just goes out the exhaust valve. You could be that 1%. Its not just in honda motors either. A plug is a plug doesn't matter what type of motor its screwed in. Get the ngk's and be done with it. Bosch stuff is generally garbage.
thanks for all the feedback about the bosch spark plugs, kinda not the point of this thread
anyhow it would seem many of you guys have had bad experiances with bosch spark plugs. im not a spokesman for them but ill tell mine.
1999 acura integra gs-r(my brothers) : bosch +4 : 50k miles before it was totaled, never any problems with the spark plugs
1999 acura integra ls (was mine, now my parents grocery getter) : bosch +4 : currently 80k miles, never any problems with the spark plugs
1998 nissan sentra (my parents) : bosch +4 : currently 180k miles, never any problems with the spark plugs
2008 honda accord (my parents) : bosch +4: no problems since 08 dunno the milage
1973 datsun 240z (mine) : bosch platinum + : 100K + (odometer rolled over so many times it no longer works) : never any problems with anything
1986 nissan 200sx v6 : bosch +4 : 180k : never any problems with plugs
1991 nissan 240sx (mine) : bosch +4 : 200k miles, never any problems with the spark plugs
1992 infiniti m30(mine) : bosch +4: 200k miles, never any problems with the spark plugs
2001 honda s2000 (mine): bosch +4: ive driven it from cali to alabama and drove it all over cali, never any problems so far
2006 honda insight(mine): ngk oem honda <~ because the insight cylinder head has a index stamp and you got to match the spark plug to it goes a,b,c,d
so i never had any issues with bosch spark plugs. maybe my family and i are just lucky, i normally use the bosch +4 that has 4 electroids, maybe they are better quality then the normal ones
heres a family pic of all my cars except my 240sx because it was in a differnt state at the time

if i start miss firing or have issues ill change my tune fast, im not hard headed to constructive criticism or insight
