Is it me or does this Jirro guy sound odd. When you add things to car you don't necessarily get more HP/TQ. Most times from adding things like a intake you get better throttle response and that is mainly it. Now I'm not saying that mods do not work. However, when you add for an example a header (with no "s" at the end as this is a inline four motor), intake, and a exhaust you often feel a little more power from your butt dyno. What people are failing to remember is that a proper tune is needed. Not matter the car and no matter the mods. A perfect example is the STi, bring them down here to Dyno Inc. in Va. Beach and we will do a re flash on you ECU and you will literally walk away with 20-30+ HP/TQ depending on year. That is only from a re flash and zero tunning. When you take a S2000 into account you are walking in another field. A S2000 just like a Type R DC2 have extremely proper tunned ECUs and modifications. It's hard to get such a jump out of something so little.

On the Gtech pro thing, I don't like them and I never will. They do an ok job at telling you your 1/8 and 1/4 time but that is about it. All that other stuff is a joke. If you were to take tunning into account again doing and street tune and a dyno tune are on two different levels but more realistic. You can not have something that sits on your dash telling you what your car makes that is plugged into your 12v plug. It's not realistic at all.

To speak on this header issue Honda has fine tuned it's header on the S2000 and did a damn good job at it. There are only a select few companies that can actually get some gains out of a header. With that comes other mods as well. Just adding a header will not beef up any HP or TQ on peak but will mainly play with your range. At most times you will actually loose a bit of mid because of the restrictions of the cat or the stock exhaust. When you add a header it's a one part to a three part story. You need a high flow cat or cat delete and an exhaust at least 2.25 or higher. I would never go out of the realm of 2.5 with a true NA tune. Turbo applications can consider a 2.5 set up if you are not pushing for a butt load of HP/TQ. 3inch piping for a Honda would be max. I have never set and watched or tuned a Honda that needed more than that. To get back on subject it's always your butt dyno and mind that play games with you when you add items to your car. Go to a Dyno and go to a tuner with the proper equipment and get it done correctly. Don't add an intake, header, test pipe, and an exhaust and expect to just reset your ECU and be ok. You need a tune.

If you want a header that works pick up a Hytech, Toda (although there can be fitment issues), J's or something similar that have been proven to work. Don't go to ebay and think you are getting a deal on a 129 dollar header. That is so silly, obviously there was NO and I mean NO R&D to back a 129 dollar header. That's a joke.

The G-Tech Pro measure Peak Horsepower so the gains were probably noticed up top... Personally, I don't like the G-Tech Pro, but if used correctly and consistently, then I suppose it can be somewhat accurate...

Yes, Honda has done a lot of R&D and has developed a great header for the S2000, but I am sure that it can be improved...
I know that these cheap ebay header were probably slapped together without any R&D, but quite possibly they have been designed based off of some effective JDM designs; resulting in gains over the stock unit...

I agree with you about tuning.. Tuning is the most important factor of all... Without it, you will never see the full potential of these modifications...

Somebody buy this Ebay Header and Dyno it...

HMM.......so how much does the stock header weigh? and how much do these ebay ones weigh? i mean if they only produce a couple HP then maybe some weight taken off would help in conjunction too!

They should be lighter than stock. I'll measure mine when I get it.
