New S2000 Driver and Mods
Hello!
I just got my New Formula Red 2007 S2000 a few weeks ago. Hello everyone
I love this car. It's almost perfect 'as is'.
The only mods I plan on doing is:
Buy an aluminum dash kit and paint it new formula red (same as car) which should make the whole car black and red. Buying the dash kit will allow me to keep the sock parts, just in case.
Buy Hankook winter tiers. I forget which model, but the tire guys said they were very good and were cheaper than Blizzaks.
Buy Goodyear F1 Asymmetric for summer/rain driving. I have read reviews that these worked the best on many roadster sports cars such as the BMW Z4 and other sports cars.
How long do your tiers last? Quote from dealer was: Summer tiers = ~$1200 and winter tiers were ~$600.
strut upper brace. Because I don't mind substituting ride for cornering
And I might motocross sometime. I do need to learn to be a better driver on the track though - before I'd notice much difference in time.If anyone has advice on these subjects or which dash kit to paint, I would appreciate it
And I also wanted to say hello.Cheers,
Adrian
strut upper bars are a not for our cars. they dont improve handling. do a search. the only reason why i would get one is because for looks and a place to put my hand while under my hood.
star specs are really great tires for the price. they probably work better than the tire you wanted. to a search again.

Dash kits are so Iffy to me, but its your car...
If you are going to be driving the car year round here is my suggestion:
Buy a second set of wheels. Pick up a cheap set of AP1 wheels and put snow tires on them. That way you have a dedicated winter set and dedicated summer set. You won't have to worry about unmounting / mounting different tires every six months. If you get a freak snowstorm you can just swap wheels in the garage. Also, 16" snow tires will be a bit cheaper (Blizzaks are awesome though, I wouldn't buy any other snow tire).

If you're paying $1200 for summer tires on an S2000, you're getting ripped off. I got my Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's + mount + balance for $450 through a friend. Only lazy/stupid people that don't know any better buy tires from the dealer. Unless your car requires specialty tires, like a Veyron.

Thanks for the tips
I can see now that the strut bar doesn't add anything lol and that tires can be has for cheaper than 1200!!
I should post pics of my friend's civic. He painted his dash and the local honda dealership wanted to contract him to do more of their brand new cars to help sell them faster. It really does look amazing. Doesn't look like paint at all and has held up to the sun for seven years now with no fading, cracking, chipping or pealing. All he did was paint around the gauges, switches and vents - and left the rest black. I would buy the dash kit so I can 'go back to stock' if I mess up or get tired of it.
Cheers,
Adrian

If you want a good suspension mod, get an adjustable front sway. I perfer Gendron (www.smallfortaneracing.com). It has done wonders for toning down the rear end. Our car doesn't need a strut tower brace. It might help slightly but your money is better spent else where.
Personally I wouldn't do the dash.
I agree on the post about multiple wheels. I have 3 sets. They are used for all seasons, RE-01Rs, and Hooser A6s. If you are going to spend money on good summer tires, I wouldn't recommend the Goodyears. Bridgestone RE-11, Dunlop Star Specs, Kuhmo XS are some that come to mind.
Another great thing to think about is a driver mod. Take the car out to autocross or HPDE with instructors. Learn the limits and become a faster driver before you spend lots of money.
Check out the NA forum, wheel and tire forum, etc. for good ideas.
