Default noob question

i installed my new exhaust the other day and i was wondering.. was there supposed to be a gasket? the stock exhaust didn't have a gasket either but i read a topic somewhere where a guy installed his exhaust with a gasket.. so i was wondering is the gasket necessary?

shouldn't do any short term damage, or possibly any long term damage either depending on conditions and circumstances, but when you have free time i would just stop by any muffler shop and ask them to make and install one for you.

i'd guess something like $20 for the job.

There should be a flat gasket between the cat/test pipe and exhaust and a thicker donut looking gasket between the header/downpipe and cat/test pipe.

right stuff is the best cheapest way to make a gasket.

cheap like 6 bucks at autozone just squeze it onto the surface around the holes for the bolts snug the bolts up and let dry.

i have run the stuff on many exhausts including my current one on the s and have used it many times on rear ends and have had no leaks on either
