Default OEM Spoiler Question

The PO installed an OEM spoiler (AP2). Can anyone tell me what the black foam coming from under is? I've been looking around here and I haven't seen mention of any kind of gasket or anything. The spoiler looks to be bolted on the two ends but not the two insides... can I pull the spoiler and remove this stuff? It doesn't seem to be sticky.

Thanks!

By the way, that isn't an ap2 spoiler I think. It came stock on my buddies 00' S. Usually people just stick those down with 3M tape, looks like that's what it could be possibly?

that like a foam between them 2 to prevent wing to trunk rubbing due vibrations.. it also helps with water...

they must sell it separately somewhere.. take it out and replace it...

What ^^ he said. take out the bolts on either side of spoiler and see if the spoiler is still stuck to the trunk if it is then it has two sided tape holding it and thats what this is. if this is the case you need to heat the tape without putting too much heat on the paint work or it will lift or wrinkle and pry it gently from the trunk or get a blade and try cutting the tape to remove it be carefull not to cut into paint. you'll then need glue remover to take all the glue of the spoiler and trunk. some 3m two sided tape with a promoter and re tape it and bolt it back. hope this helps.

same thing happens to mine and a lot of other owners, its just one sided foam tape that they place between the parts to keep it from scratching one another. it is most likely OEM and not a replica so it doesnt use 3m double sided tape. just unbolt the thing and replace it with another foam tape or push it back in(thats what i did)
