Default Opinions on Berk 3" Single

Hiya
was looking at exhausts for maximum gains as well as sounding nice, I originally thought about the invidia q300 as wanted to keep it dual and symetrical however im leaning torwards the berk now. My concmain concern is the loudness.
I had a search but cant find much info on this exhaust. Has anyone got one fitted? thoughts opinions? is it stupidly loud? gains?

thanks
matt

I daily drive a Berk 3" headerback. Was insanely easy and straightforward to install (you'll spend much more time uninstalling the old system than putting the Berk on). In my opinion, the Berk 3" is easily one of the best bang-for-buck performance exhausts for the S2000.

The exhaust is definitely loud (cold start is ridiculous), however once it's warmed up and idling I like it quite a bit. The exhaust has a fantastic rumble all the way up to 5K RPM. Above 5K RPM the exhaust does get very raspy on de-throttle, but it's not something that you'll ever run into just cruising around (unless you have a lead foot). There's also definitely a slight drone between 3K-4K RPM, but I don't think it's all that bad...

Were you going to get the Berk 3" with HFC or headerback? Even untuned my car did feel slightly more responsive after installing my Berk exhaust, and also felt like it may be making a smidgen more power on the top end. I believe that a tuned Berk exhaust has been shown to make ~10WHP gains. All in all, I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

Thanks for your reply, yea thats the one thing I dont like the rasp when you let off apart from that its like you say it seems the best bang for buck, It really sounds like a screamer when revved though from videos. I would probably go for the decat rather than hiflow just for extra gains and its cheaper. And yea dynos mapped shows up to 11hp gained which is quite impressive.

I had the Berk with an added vibrant bullet resonator. Quieted the exhaust down some, killed some of the 3-4k drone, and rasp upon deceleration completely gone. Definitely the best exhaust I've owned for the s2k, even now that I'm FI. Gotten nothing but complements for the sound.

I really like my berk exhaust. It is excellent quality and the price is great. It is loud and has some drone but I put some sound deadening in the trunk and I also have a header which I think helped with the drone (don't ask me how though). It is loud outside of the car so be aware of that if you live someplace where people care about that.

The headerback is racecar loud.

It will not work with 1/2 shaft spacers. You'll need that half inch or the bolts will rub ( at least it did on mine).

Nice simple 2 piece design and the V-Band is the sh!t.

+1 on the V-Band, however you shouldn't need to use any special bolts on the shaft spacers. My bolts were also rubbing at first (could clearly hear the grind on light acceleration), but I found out that all I had to do was adjust one of the hangers to allow the exhaust to hang a little bit lower and let it clear.

Berk even includes a couple 3-point hangers (as opposed to our OEM 2-point) that let you drop it a little lower in the rear.

Trust me, I tried everything. In the end I removed the spacers and was happy. When I swapped in new axles we decided to reinstall the spacers anyway. Dumb move.
