Default Part one done

I installed a Berk HFC on my '08 today. Will be doing a Gernby e-tune as soon as I hear back from Greg. The car already seems a little more free revving.

Once the tune is done, I'll report in!

Greg did mine. Wonderful improvement mid range after the VTEC was dropped to 3600rpm (and other adjustments made).

OEM or aftermarket exhaust?

That's what I'm looking for. This is a DD and I want more mid-range.

OEM. It's plenty loud now...

Sounds like (unintentional pun) the OEM cat was very restrictive. My first header-back swap it was loud but I attributed that to the Q300 exhaust.

Part Two done, I hope.

I went and did the pulls this afternoon. It would have been much easier with a co-pilot! I got balked a couple of times in traffic and had a couple of false starts.

I may have to rerun the sequence.

On the way out I bumped into a Honda convention at the gas station. There was an NSX, a S2000 and a slammed four door Civic.

Talked to Yasser a couple of minutes and he invited me to the Skyline Drive meet in a couple of weeks. I think I will join them!

Stay tuned for the next chapter.

Final report.

Yes, the initial pulls were, as they say, problematic. Greg was immensely patient with me and set a new set of cal's. My son was home for Thanksgiving holiday and we got the first set done with ease. Sent them into Greg who quickly turned them around for a final set of cal's for data logging.

By this point Jourdan, my son, and I were old hands at this and the time it took was much less. Easy days.

Greg sent the final tune on Monday. I uploaded it, but the weather here in Northern VA was really crappy so I didn't get to do much. Typically I don't drive Jessica in the rain so it wasn't until Thursday that I got to really drive the car.

My trip in to work is mostly freeway and that really didn't give me much feedback as to the change in the tune. It didn't feel a lot different, but I only just accelerated and deaccelerated one time on my trip to work. Finally, Thursday afternoon provided the opportunity to explore some twisties on my way home.

The difference is deceptive. It doesn't really feel like a lot of difference... at first. And then I realized how much for free revving the is car now. Applying throttle input which in the past provided reasonable response and would have me upshifting about 5k now had the thing at 6-7k rpm and much higher speeds. It's very misleading. I'm going to have to pay much closer attention because what used to be rather normal acceleration on secondary roads to just over the limit, now has me at 15 over the limit :|

Yesterday I got to play some more and yea verily, the powerband is far broader. The peak power obviously hasn't changed, but the usable power throughout the powerband has filled in considerably.

Thanks to Greg for his patience with this old man. He was great to work with and provided a tremendous tune.

Highly recommended
