Default Plastic to Glass Robbins replacement problems - have you had any?

I recently had my 2000 S2000's convertible top replaced. I went with the Robbins non defrost glass to replace the plastic. I had a shop replace this about 3 months ago. I found just the other day that when I put the top down, the glass has been snagging on the OEM copper colored pins that stick out for the Roof cover when down. Since this has been happening it has now cause a rip in the two spots this catches.

Has anyone had any issues with this and/or know why this is happening to mine?

I will try to get photos but curious if anyone has had any issues with the conversion.

I have not had that issue but have had a problem with the top. The middle cross bar that runs from driver to passenger side the fabric holding it came loose so now the bar just droops. Had the top replaced in December. So only 6-7 months old.

I wish this was the problem I had instead of this BS position I'm in right now. 3 month old top already having rips. Fortunately the flap that goes over the glass on the outside still is in tack keeping rain from coming in the hole.

I was told on the phone by the shop that I should have been guiding the glass into position. Is this what you did?

I have never guided anything into position. I lower the top slow to make sure it's going in correctly but never guide or alter anything really. Sounds like a bad install. My install guy showed me some points of issue and he corrected them.

I believe you are supposed to remove those pins when doing the glass conversions. PM 2poor2mod (Jeremy, a local install guy for DelVal)---he will know.

Yep, you should remove the two middle bolts/snaps (sorry, not sure what they're called) for the tonneau cover. I suppose you could just put some sort of rubber cap on them. Not sure this step is included in any instructions, but the upgraded glass/fabric around the glass, when down, usually contacts them.

My first aftermarket glass top had a couple of issues (sagging in back/contacting the roll hoop covers, significant leaking on sides) because of the install.

My second aftermarket glass top (the first one was still functional, but I wanted it to look perfect) was professionally installed and is pretty great.

Good luck!

PS - they all seem to leak a slight bit on the sides in heavy rain or when washed, even with fresh weather stripping.

I had this professionally installed. So who would cover the cost for replacement now? It is legit ripped

The pins were to be removed. Installation error. I believe Robbins warrants their top only when installed by an authorized dealer. Not sure who did the install and if they are authorized. If I were in your shoes I would get on the horn with Topsonline. Ask for Vic or Seta as they do a lot of business with folks here (S2Ki) and are authorized Robbin's wholesalers.. They can tell you if your installer is authorized. If so your done....then Robbins will cover. If not then they should be able to get you the instructions that come with the kit. Then unfortunately you will have to deal with the installer.
