Hi,

I had my top replaced on my 2001 with the robbins glass non defrost. So going to plastic to glass. This was done 5~6 years ago and these are the only problems i have had:

Window sagging and hitting the roll hoops
I get a flapping in the middle portion of the roof if i have one window down driving above 70km/h
Water leak from roof mounting position at rear into boot
Hole on right side from glass piece fabric to folded piece of fabric - glue just didn't last.

The water leak i think was caused by one of the rivets breaking through the gutter. I fixed this up and seems to be good.
I also tapped the outside of the gutter on the passenger side to the body to ensure it captures all the water. It was running up the body to the rear and missing the gutter.

The sag i believe was a combination of the hole in the glue holds and the rivet issue as above. I tried to glue it back but it broke again after a few weeks. However i have tightened the straps and the mounting plate - i do not get sag any more.

The flapping i have learned to live with.

The hole is not an issue as the only water that can get to is if i point a hose upward. No issue when washing the car.

I'll have to confirm if i still have my pins but i think i do.

They can tell you if your installer is authorized. If so your done....then Robbins will cover. If not then they should be able to get you the instructions that come with the kit. Then unfortunately you will have to deal with the installer. Utah
I wonder if the instructions mention removing the two "pins." If not, it seems like the repair costs would be on the top manufacturer... at least out of goodwill.

Yamba6 - do the instructions say to remove the pins?

I am not sure, I did not have the instructions, I did not open the package from topsonline and gave it right to the licensed company who does convertible tops. I asked them if they could do this install for me and said it required a some fabrication. They took the job.

The instructions that come with the Robbins top do say to remove those pins. I did it myself 6 months ago for my '00 and the instructions do say to remove them. It even comes with black plastic plugs to fill the hole (though they didn't fit the hole so I didn't use them).

Thank you, this will help me fight/win my case. They also did not replace the plastic clips in all of the back decking which pissed me off. I got the car with 33k miles and know the car like the back of my hand having 105k on it now. I have clean that area enough to know all the clips were in on all the plastic before going to the shop. I did tell them I was not happy about that and would need them replaced.

FYI, the clips for the back deck on my MY00 are 91505-ST7-003ZA. I had to replace them after installing the roll bar.

FYI, if the deck is not completely flush with back of the headrest, the pin in the clip won't go in. Forcing it will only work if they are close enough. My point is that it wasn't as simple as I would have liked to reinstall - so you may want to do it yourself to be sure it's done right.

Yep, the shop did a great job with my recent top, but I did have some missing plastic clips in the rear tray. I bought some, so now none are missing. You're right though... reaching back across the seats and getting those clips in was a PITA, especially if you have to align all of the tray pieces!

As crappy as it may be putting those back, that is part of the install when a shop does it. I'm really hoping I don't need to fight this hard as well if/when the replacement is done, it is done with care and done properly and not in a pissed off state of mind because they feel cheated out. (assuming they wont want to see me again they will do it right) haha

Instructions that come with the Robbins top clearly indicate to remove those pins as they will either cause rips or break the glass window of it gets hung up while putting the top down. This is not something I would see Robbins covering even out of good will. This is clearly the installing shops error and they are responsible for a replacement.

I have a copy of the Robbins instructions in my garage and can snap a few pics and send your way if you want to PM me your cell phone #.

Going today to see the installers to confront them about the problem. Will update after. At this point as long as everything was on the instructions from Robbins, they will need to replace my top. I will not settle for a patch either as $1400 is not what I paid to have a top with a patch 3 months later.
