Plastidipping rims?
Just as the topic reads, have any of you guys plastidipped your track wheels just to change the look of things? I was thinking about doing a few coats on my wheelset but was wondering if the plastidip will be able to handle track temps? Im actually doing it more for a protective measure vs appearance so that is the reason Iam inquiring. Id be all up to plastidip my wheels as long as they dont bond permanently to my rims.

the jdm bbs's, Im thinking about attending Streets of Willow on april 14 or 15 assuming work permits.
Im sure they should be fine, but Ill take any protection I can get. Im wondering if I should plastidip my whole front end as well lol. Just thought about it, but if a mod wants to move this to the wheel and tire section be my guest.

man ever since last week Ive been doing nothing but researching different setups lol. I want some RS3's but im still debating between those and the star specs. If I dont plastidip the front end im going to blue tape as much as i can.
Before my RS3s, I had Kumho Ecsta XS and Dunlop Star Specs. Of the 3 sets, the RS3s lasted the longest and had the best dry grip when slowly brought to temperature on the track. The XS come close. I could see you going with the Star Specs because you run a taller sidewall and the Star Specs are stiffer. However, the difference is negligible. This is just my experience and all 3 sets of tires perform similarly enough that you can decide based on price. IIRC, the RS3s are the cheapest. Stock brake pads will bottleneck your performance if your tires are in the 140-200 treadwear range.
Again, would it be possible to switch out your OEM BBS with your stock wheels for the track, and swap brake pads while you are at it?

I agree with Ryan, Carlo. Run your USDM oem wheels on the track. Keep the BBS wheels of the track(unless you have a spare set). Brake pads, decent tires and a good alignment is all you need unless you're chasing a podium. Plus keep an eye on the coolant temp, oil level, tire pressure and lug nut tq's through out the day, just to be safe.
