Polished Intake Anyone?!
Hey everyone,
I just finished installing my 4th intake on my S2000 and while perfomance is ok, the aesthetics are totally missing.
My first intake came with the car. That was a AEM intake that had a wannabe polished look, but I never liked the location and design of it for a real practical and racing function.
Moved on to a J's Tsuchinoko intake which was a very well designed racing intake and a purposeful look to it, but it is carbon fiber (you can also throw the ASM/Gruppe-M/PWJDM in the same category)
Top Fuel......and now K&N FIPK (this will a long term temporary intake until the ITB's are installed.)
Pro and Cons will all so far but, the main thing missing is that nice Polished look. I love the carbon fiber look, but everytime I get it under the hood somehow the clear gets burnt, scuffed, or cracked and it is too high maintenance.
Case in point is a Turbo/Supercharged car. Most of what can be seen under they hood is pipes. But when these pipes are polished the look the tits.
I am not really eager to make my own E-Bay intake so was curious if anyone felt the same frustration despite the many avaiable intakes on the market, there aren't any that just POP for me without going carbon fiber....

hum odd, i went in the reverse direction as you did. i went from the K&N FIPK to the spoon snorkel style intake. why did you give up on the snorkel style intake. b/c of the scuffs and cracks?
With the exception of the bad color scheme, the ARC intake is the most aestheticaly pleasing, but a very non-functional system.
hum, did you ever think about putting a piece of cloth on the hood so it wont rub and scuff? taking the bumper on/off? i though i had to do that too, what were you doing?? lol.
also have you notice any bogging with the k&N?

K&N feels pretty good in comparison, but I got it mainly for its Carb legal and that it's a short ram system. A nice bonus is like the Top Fuel intake the filter is right under one of the vent in my hood so it has a pretty good response vs snorkel for ram air.
