Pressure plate
I have no idea what a pressure plate does in the first place. So that's my first question: What does a pressure plate do? Second, how much could an aftermarket pressure plate help? What pressure plate would you reccomend? Is it different with a lightweight fly wheel? Thanks in advance.
i am gonna try to explain it the best way i can...better pressure plate improves clamping load so thus prevent clutch slip..no clutch slip yeilds better power to the wheels....
well ACT is one of the best IMO, but competition clutch is also good and they have light pedal feel (like stock or even lighter)that wont give u a hard time during traffic...but there is also other brands out there that are good and im only saying that u get ACT or Competition Clutch because i have really good experiece with them as far as relaibilty and perfromance is concern.
good luck

i've heard the CC is an excellent product as far as its performance goes. but i've also heard it rattles and buzzes.
the lighter flywheel also adds a little bit more rattle too...but it makes the car more responsive, and it makes a rev hapy s2k a more rev hapy...
Nightcrawler,
act rattles a bit, i have an act HD PP, 6 pad disc, and prolite flywheel on my06 and i have a competition clutch stage 2 with act prolite flywheel on my03 4 daily driving...
both of em have a slight rattle from a stop to a few meters of driving(approx. 5meters or less)...i guess this is due to the characteristics of the racing clutch that makes the car jump. i dont know how to expalin it but you will see when you get one or drive one with a racing clutch, act or CC...
again the slight rattle is nothing, you can avoid it from happening, its only pronounce on the first day u have the clutch because you are still getting use to it, but u will get better...
regarding the clutch buzz, just get a dynamat 4 extra insulation of sound and heat to decrease the buzzing sound.put it by the tranny tunnel..the buzz happens on low speed below 3000rpmish and if you are staying on higher gear than ur suppose to, for example: if u are decelarting and you got below 4000rpm and below 35mph and ur on 4th gear, u will hear the buzz....this is just my observation on both our s2000s so i dont know if others havethe same case but i know some other cars do the same thing.
if i were u, and u daily drive ur s2k, get a compettition clutch, they are good for ur legs, its actually softer pedal feel than stock but its grabs like a real racing clutch....and it has a lower clucth buzz...but i think since i have the same flywheel for my ap1 and ap2, the rattling is the same form dead stop to a few meters of driving but after that its all good....ull be happy now coz the flywheel makes the car rev faster and more fun to drive. now i am not sure if the flywheel is the culprit for the slight rattle but i am assuming it is basing on my own experiences.

hopefully it's not so bad. i'm getting my ACT HD with organic street disc and ACT flywheel put in today.
i use to have the organic street disc, the are good... i just change it coz i wanted something more from it...
i know ul have fun...so enjoy..and keep us updated...
again the only down side is that the pedal feel is stiffer...
change ur clucth fluid, lines (with stainless braided), and get new slave cylinder too after a wk of driving (or after break in)...i noticed a slight softness of the pedal, but i cant explain y...
if someone can explain my assumption, pls do so...
my pedal feel has been messed up for almost a year now. i've done little things here and there to try to fix it but nothing seems to work. while it's getting the clutch put in my mech is going to fix get everything to be the way it should again.
