I bought the hardtopguy special a while back and am now changing out my clutch. It included an AP1 flywheel, OEM disc, OEM throwout bearing, and ACT HD PP. I plan on getting a full race turbo kit or the peak boost kit so I am worried if the disc will be able to hold that.
I only plan on making 400hp to 450hp.
Right now as I am changing the clutch I'm not so sure it will hold up...
from what i understood the act combo had increased clamping while others used grippier clutch disc material, either way the htg setup is supposed to hold quite well...
I personally would go with a higher performance rated aftermarket disc like you linked to. The stock disc is very good for n/a power but that's alot of power that ypu plan on throwing at it. I think it will hold when in new condition but it may end up burning out earlier than a heavier duty disc. I'd try to avoid opening up the clutch too many times if that was my car as it gets expensive, do it once to last a longer time IMO.
p.s. - If you decide to sell the disc I'd consider buying it from you as I plan to remain at stock power levels.
Well... I kinda already have the trans off and I am doing it without lowering the sub frame. I have a Factory service manual and a friend that has done it before to help me.
It honestly is so much easier to just take off the engine mounts and put the block on a block of wood on a jack to lower it instead of the subframe.
I thought about doing a write up, but by that time I was already too deep into it for it to help anyone.
I guess I could take pics as I'm putting everything back.
i really want to say there have been others that have had the htg setup hold 400whp (supercharged) but oddly they haven't posted up. maybe search in the FI section for setup reviews. i never doubted the htg setup's ability to hold but the act thing about bearings made me choose a competitionclutch instead...
