Programmable ECU?
Hey guys, I've got an '05 AP2 and it's about to be turbocharged. I'm wondering which ECU to go with: I can get a slightly used AEM Infinity 6H for $1100 or a new Haltech Platinum Pro for $1200 (best price I could find). I'm leaning more towards the Haltech since it's plug-and-play while I'll need an adapter harness for the AEM. I have a couple of decent reputable tuners nearby that can work with both systems, so that's not too much of a deciding factor. I'm leaning more towards the Haltech, but that is a rather steep price for an ECU that's five or so years old with no new added functionality.
Which would you guys go with? Thanks.
Edit: No emissions checks in my area. This isn't my DD, and will probably be garaged in the winter.

Does the car have to pass emission testing? Via the OBD2 port? Not sure if you need it or if either ECU will do it, but best to answer that question first. My '06 ECU is programmable so that wasn't a problem. The Hondata piggy back version may pass smog as well.

I can understand what you're saying though, that would definitely be good advice if I had a very limited choice in reputable tuning shops.
I'm just trying to figure out what's a better deal between these two ECU choices.

OP, the first question is who will be tuning your car? If it's someone reputable, I suggest using what they recommend as they recommend what they feel comfortable effectively tuning your car.

Are any of them tuners specific for the s2000? Don't be like some people on here and go to a "system specific specialist" tuner that isn't too familiar with s2000s, they end up being expensive in rebuilds and retunes
Guys, I appreciate the concern about proper tuning, but I'm just trying to figure what's a better deal between these two options. It just seems that the answers I'm getting--while relevant--aren't specific to the question I'm asking.
Should I be posting this in a different sub-forum? And if so, which would give me a more direct answer? I've built DSM's for the past few years so the whole S2000 community is new to me. So one more time, which of these would be a better deal?

I'm starting to think perhaps I didn't ask the right question.
Is $1200 for a Haltech Platinum Pro a good deal? Is $1100 for a used AEM Infinity 6h (no harness or included accessories) a better deal?
