Default Proper DTRL mod...

I bought a 2K a few months back, Canada requires day time running lights on all cars newer than 90' or 91' so the person who imported my car had ghetto rigged some relay and ran wires all over the engine bay to make this work. I gutted all this as it looked terrible and didn't even work anymore.

Is there an OEM optional part for DTRLs that will plug and play on USDM vehicles? Im hoping I can just buy a relay and plug it in or something. Let me know the best way to do this without ghetto modding my car.

Much appreciated.

My S2K was a US import, it sold 3 times and never got a DRL system despite needing it for inspection. I decided to add it as it dangerous driving a small sports car in Canada without DRL's, people were cutting me off and pulling out in front of me all the time before I got some system working. AFAIK, you can't just swap in the Canadian DRL parts into a US car.

I just sold a relay to a fellow member that I was using the past season, it turns on the HID's and runs them 24/7 whenever the car is turned on. The dashboard lights stay bright in daytime and no parking lights turn on, once night-time arrives turn the light switch on and the dashboard dims and parking lights operate. It was a very easy install underdash, no wiring needed outside of the cabin, 30 minute install, only uses one splice and the rest was plug and play. It uses a Honda part relay made by Denso and the unit is made by a Honda tech at my dealership. They use it on all US cars imported into Canada by their customers. The Unit was only the size of a cigarette lighter.

I recently sold that device and went with LED lights to use as my DRL's. I wired them up to a switch which I mounted under the cruise control switch, so I can run them anytime the ignition is on or just run them off the switch. Here is a link to my current setup, it was a lot of work to mount and wire up but it looks pretty good. With the long nose of the S2000 it needed about 12 feet of wiring to go across the width of the bumper and extended into the cabin.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. I was hoping for a quick OEM fix, but I guess I'll have to do what you've done.

I habitually turn on my headlights when I drive to avoid any liability if there is an accident and I dont have them on, but I've left them on a couple times and I've been lucky enough so far.

Also, my dads 2K is Canadian, the DTRL's are actually located in the highbeam bulb locations, they arent the HIDs which is kinda cool.

Yeah Canadian S2K's use the highbeams at 50% power, they have that yellow tinge to them when in use, like many other vehicles.

Ive seen those kits before, might try eBay Motors.
Might also be called JDM fog lights. Ill see if I can find some.

*EDIT*
Yeah looks like the only way to do it is retro-fitting either the Honda Odyssey or Civic (EK) Hatchback 99-00. Only works on AP1 bumpers though.

this is the way to do it to get the closest to OEM as possible. I followed this write up on MY05 and it works perfect. http://alavigne.net/Motorsports/FeatureRep...0/DRL/index.jsp

the hardest part was finding the damn DRL module. the place i got it from was Terminal Supply. you'll have to call them and ask for the part. I did this about a year ago so not sure if they will or wont have the part.

I started with this setup initially but I wasn't crazy about all of the wiring in the engine bay so I sold the kit, plus I couldn't find some used lighting pigtails. I'm glad to have done it with my current setup, much cleaner install.

well i used my high beams to do it as opposed to using the low beams and with my setup you cant seen any wiring except for the wires coming out the back of the module and relay. looks real clean.

but hey both suggestions are fine. i do like your set up ^
