Default Q. about installing Voodoo Knobs in S2000

Got my Pearl finish knob from Ricks in record time!! Fast easy transaction.

I have one of these in my Mustang. In that car you just screw it on. However on the S2000 stock knob there is a retaining nut.

Do I use that nut with the Voodoo knob, or not?

If not I should probably use a few drops of Blue loctite to secure the knob so it doesn't periodically loosen?

Thanks,

I do not have the voodoo knob in my S2000, but do on my Miata. No locknut on that one. I wouldn't think you would use the locknut on the S2000 either...part of the advantage of the voodoo knob is that it is countersunk, which it wouldn't be if you use the locknut.

I had one for a while and I didn't use a locknut. Your's doesn't have engraving does it? If so, the locknut is there to keep the engraving in the right position.

"the locknut is there to keep the engraving in the right position."

Ahhh of course, that makes sense. Cool, I'll swap the knob this morning and go test it on the drive to work.

Thanks all!

Well that was easy. It literally took me longer to find the correct size wrench (14mm) than to swap out the knobs. I'll hold off on the blue loctite until I see if the voodoo tends to loosen. It did on my mustang, but that has a much longer throw and that might result in more torque being applied to the knob.

I didn't use the locknut on my TRW and figured I could put it back on if the knob became an aggrevation due to continuing loosening. Try it without the nut if you like the lower stance of the shifter.

no locknut needed. remove it!
if you have the nut on it'll pretty much be stock height.
if you do have engravings on it then you'll have to use either
teflon tape or loctite from what was recommended by others above.
