Default Question about a few mods...please take a look!

Steering Wheels:

Will my 05 S2000 throw an engine light or any kind of light that will prevent me from getting inspected if i replace my OEM Honda Wheel with a Momo or Mugen wheel without the airbag?

Roll Cages/Harnesses/Racing Seats:

People say it is not safe to have a roll cage in a car that is driven on the street.
But! my question is this...

If i am going to use Spoon Carbon/Kevlar Bucket Seats with Mugen Rails that lower the seating position like 3 inches and im also only 5'9'' and ill be using Takata Harnesses, how would a roll cage be unsafe?

Wouldnt my head be quite far away from the roll cage bars? being that the harness keeps you in place and the spoon seats sit so low?

Im a little bit confused on why roll cages are said to be dangerous in a DD.

Discuss!
thanks

matt

If you are getting those seats you will need a cage to mount harnesses. Regular seatbelts+ Full buckets=major bodily damage. I have the Safety21 cage that is behind the seats. I cant see a way i would ever hit the cage with my Takata's. The cages that go over your head and down your leg may be a different story but IDK.

good link, but it didnt answer my questions...

my questions are in regards to whether an aftermarket steering wheel will throw an engine light

my other question was whether or not it is safe to run a full roll cage in the s2000 when using seats that sit real low and harnesses.
I want to know if the roll cage itself is dangerous without a helmet.

so the link was nice, but didnt answer anything for me...

Im sorry sir , my mistake. Yes a aftermarket steering wheel will throw a srs code because of no airbag( im assuming there is no airbag). The safety of the roll cage depends on the amount of clearence you have between your noggin and the cage, as well as where your harnesses are mounted(too low and your back will suffer in a accident). In other words i wouldnt recommend you have a cage in your car unless you track your car significantly and your racing class requires it.
