Default Question about my Voltex GT Wing Type 3

Hey everyone, I just installed a 1600mm Voltex Gt Wing type 3. I'm using the highest setup which includes the 275mm bracket with 30mm bracket extension. The wing is mounted on my reinforced varis cf trunk (made to support GT wings).

The question is: Is it normal that my wing is swaying and flexing slightly during driving? When I look in my mirror, I can see it moving a little. I don't want to be driving and have my $2000+ wing fly and break off, its a huge concern for me right now.

The wing has been measured and is perfectly symmetrical.

Here is a pic of it mounted.

Thanks in advanced.

I am not sure this is restricted just to your wing. I have heard people say the APR wings do the same. Maybe it's just due to the low speed air hitting it? Should be nice and firm at high speed. How does it look at speed on the interstate and such?

Well, for one, you need to lower the angle of that wing. You may be past stall angle on it.

I haven't checked yet, but I will try today and return with the results.

What do you mean by lower the angle of the wing? make it more slanted down like this: \ or flatter like this?: ---

Flatter like -------

Try mounting it so that the front and rear end are parallel with each other. That alone will already make your car understeer like crazy, unless you have significant front downforce

See wings in these pictures for reference (and note that most cars have front aero too). These are from the last S2k Challenge event. Hope this helps!

I agree with psychoazn, start by running the wing at zero angle of attack (AoA) Measure this well cuz' you also have the slotted flap. Since aerofoil is cambered, at zero AoA you'll still generate downforce with minimal drag for any airspeeds. If you need more downforce then start increasing the angle (no more than 12 degrees). In addition, near stall angle you might be exhibiting some aero buffet - this may explain why it's swaying. Try this out and let us know if it's continue to sway. Good luck

dont run the extensions on that wing... if you make it that much taller, side to side sway movement will happen more because of more leverage. that wing creates an enormous amount of downforce so you dont need it that high
