Default Question for who has swapped to AP2 headlights

Hey guys,

I'm going to swap over from AP1 headlights to AP2 headlights and I've read the DIY thread on the front end conversion already. My question is it absolutely necessary to cut the hole for the ballast bigger? What is the purpose? Just to keep the connection free from possible moisture?

Thanks,

Keith

Yes you do unless you are not using OEM hid, the ignitor (piece that goes on the bulb) will not fit through the hole in the bottom of the ap2 lamps, and it does not disconnect from the ballast like the ap2 setup.

I did mine and it was a pain! major pain! if I would do it over again I would defn get the ap2 ballast. simple install, plug and play for the ap2 headlights and ap2 ballast.

the ap2 ballast is way smaller than the ap1. that's why u have to cut the bottom of the headlights to get it to fit the ap1 ballast. hope that helps.

Like everyone stated already. Yes cutting is required so the ballast can fit into the headlight.
