Quiet exhaust?
Well, the exhaust on my car right now is just wayyy tooo loud. It's an apexi single, huge can, loud unless your under 4k. I can't take it!
I need a new exhaust, but don't want to go back to stock and would prefer a single only if i can find one that's fairly quiet. Basically what i'm looking for is something just a bit louder than stock with a good tone. I don't want to get pulled by every cop i see because my car is too loud. So i'm thinking an invidial Q300, i've heard/read they are pretty quiet. How is the Q300 single?
Or any other suggestions, thanks

Fujitsubo Legalis R is a good choice if you just want a bit more sound than stock. It's the only aftermarket exhaust that I actually like for this car. And you can add a high flow cat to make it deeper / meaner / more powerful.
I've also heard good things about the HKS cat-back too. Both of these are duals...

I read that the q300 single is just a tad louder than the dual, so I think that would be a good choice, especially considering it's 70mm and it is decently cheap. I would also consider getting a HFC if you got this because a test pipe with the q300 rasps a lot and doesnt sound great, but sounds awesome with a HFC or stock cat. It will drone a little more with the stock cat though. The only other ones I have read about are T1R singles, with a test pipe there is almost no drone at all, and some drone with a cat. Otherwise I think most other singles will be louder and drone more. I have read that the new HKS 75mm single isn't to loud for a 3", and even better with a test pipe. I remember H22toF20 posting that his prelude with an ebay 60mm exhaust is louder than his 3" HKS single with a test pipe on his S
. I'm pretty sure it would be quieter than your current apexi.

After having owned both, I can only give the advice i always give, stay away from the Q300 it can be loud and droney, especially with a berk high flow cat. But I loved the Fujitsubo. It is worth the extra money to buy one and be satisfied than to buy a Q300, find out you don't like it, sell it and start again. Not to mention installing more than once.
If you want kind of quiet, lightweight with the baller JDM effect and a high pitched wail at VTEC then the ASM 60 single might be your choice but it is $1200. Niether the Q300 or the Fuji save much weight. You can also find a used Mugen from time to time in the for sale section.

Wow, I know a few guys on here that said their q300 didn't really drone with a test pipe and not much with a HFC. It's crazy how many people have different comments on certain exhausts.
To the OP, see if anyone in your area has a single exhaust, and see if you can get a ride to see how it sounds. Try a few different ones and see if you can make a decision from there. Exhausts always have mixed reviews on how loud it is, how bad the drone is, ect.. Most singles are going to drone some no matter what, it's just a matter of finding one you can tolerate and will most likely have to hear in person to be able to make a good decision. That's just my view on it.

The quietest aftermarket exhaust for the S2k I've heard is Neuspeed. Ricers hate it because it sounds so close to stock. It's a dual but it's few pounds lighter than stock.
