Can you get them side mounted and low to the floor?

Both side and bottom mount. I have it bottom mounted with a Planted mount and I think it's as low as it can go. I did have to custom drill and grind the crap out of the mount though..

What ever seat I get, mounting it as low as possible is critical. I am guessing I need a side mount where the actual bottom of the seat scrapes the carpet.

I saw a seat called a bride low max. Anyone use this?

For those with the PP, how low can you get the seat?

If that is the case then you definitely need a side mount. Bride has multiple models of seat with "low max" designation but I think it's usually used with the VIOS III. I am not very familiar with Bride products, but the appropriate seat combined with the right rail (type FO?) would work.

You can basically get the Recaro PP on the floor. I don't even have the slider bar installed under the passenger seat because there is no room for it. 06+ have some extra challenges on passenger side but will still go really low. I am 6'4", very comfortable now and can actually see through the windshield and not over it.

Generally speaking what is more comfortable, the fiberglass backed seats (PP, fx1) or steel frame seats (sprint, forza, f200)? What is more rigid?

Pole position, right?
You and I are the same weight and height. Pole Position was too narrow around the shoulders for me. You gotta try out seats in person for you to get the right one.

Also, what is up with the Recaros on ebay for 700 a pair? Fakes?

In case nobody answered you yet, there are a number of PP seats that have been recalled and the old ones now for sale on E-Bay & Craigslist. They are not FIA certified.
