Default Redline MTL is amazing stuff

Finally go around to changing this stuff in. Let me tell you, this transmission has NEVER been this smooth. When I got it I changed in new Honda mtf (43,000) miles and it was a little better. It got notchy again so around 60k miles I changed in Honda mtf again. No change in shifting even including the freshly bled clutch

Replaced the cmc for an exceptional leak that almost left me stranded. (empty reservoir in a week). Just put the redline in (BONUS, IT DOESN'T SMELL LIKE GEAR OIL WOOOOO!) and The tranny completely changed. The Honda MTF in there wasn't even old and this stuff blew it away

We'll see how it feels in 5k though

where are you located ?, I think it is a great fluid but if it is used in cold temps it can lead to nothcy shifting more so than the oem fluid. If you can use it in warm temps it can turn out to be a good fluid.

In Louisiana you wouldn't see temps cold enough to cause issues on a regular basis, it will likely work well for you particularly in very hot conditions. See how it works in the longer term.

The Honda fluid doesn't really suck, it works reasonably well over a broad range of conditions, and in trannies of varying conditions. Sometimes you just have to try things until you find something that works. My car had Redline MTL in it when I bought it and it shifted worse as compared to Honda MTF2, I'm sure it was temperature related. It shifts flawlessly with Honda MTF2 at 55k miles on a 2002 ap1. If it didnt' I'd be moving onto other fluids too. There isn't one fluid that works great in all trannies unfortunately, so I do advocate trying out other fluids if find somethign that works for you.

OP: I love the MTL stuff too. RL shit is awesome, Have never tried amsoil so I cant compare it properly but its easier to obtain RL than amsoil.

With RL in the engine (10W-30) the engine was so damn quiet, I thought something was wrong.. but the 12 bucks a quart price made me switch back to M1EP.

RL in the trans: I used MTL, but I'm just trying out MTL/MT-90 mix. I really like the mix better, you should try it out. Not sure if your colder weather will affect the MT90 but it really shifts nicely for me.

Did a Honda MTFII change recently... 2nd gear is kind of weird. I think I'll go pick up some Redline MTL on the OP's recommendation tomorrow and try it out. Hopefully it works well here in Southern California.

I'm also picking up some GM Synchromesh Friction Modified... guess I'll do a comparo.

Woo,

I second your efforts and opinion.

After months of research and waiting (was in Afghanistan for a while), I changed the Transmission and Diff fluids to Redline oil products. The original fluids were of unknown origin (bought the S online from FL), and the transmission was hard to get in R and also 1st. Was also quite embarrassing when it would not go in gear . After changing to Redline the Trans worked GREAT. No hard shifts and the Diff worked great. When I changed the old fluids, they were quite black and probably original. I have been running the Redline oils for a year, had a few long runs and so far I am pleased.

Just another satisfied Redline user.
Cheers
