Default Removal of metal collars in rear control arm? (bushing install)

Whats up guys like most of you my 07 s2k has a seized up rear end. I bought a bushing kit to install into the rear and i have a few questions. My main question is do i remove the metal collars in the rear control arm to put the bushings in? I know the instructions call for the collars to be retained with the bushings but i do not see how that can work, also in the same instructions the collars it says to leave in i do not see them installed in the control arm in the supplied photo they used. For example the top pic; if i were to press the bushing into the collar it would leave an extra width which i measured. And it is too wide for the control arm to than fit into the mount on the car. Now i do know where the strut mounts to the control arm that i leave that collar in, but to people who have installed bushings into the rear control arms what should i do?

Aren't those the bushings that ES supplies that are the incorrect size and meant for the AP1 rear control arms?

bump. would like an answer to this question also. I have a popping noise coming from the rear of my s2000 while slowing down and rolling at lower speeds. I'm thinking i need to do the same thing.

Hmmm that's a good question king tut; honestly I'm not really sure if they sent me the right ones. I ordered an ap2 kit and the instructions for the ap2 control arm matched the bushing part numbers so I would assume they are the correct ones, though I do have random left over bushing after the install.

And I will post in this thread once I'm driving the car around again with initial thoughts on wether or not I did the right thing by removing the two metal collars on the out side of the control arm. I will say all of the bushings are pressed in / control arms and mounted on the car and it all fits like a glove as it should. So I am still confident that removing the outer shells was the right thing.
