Remove Air Pump....?
I don't know about the J's ECU but I'm pretty sure it will still throw a CEL. I had one go bad (did not run) so I got a P0411 IIRC. There is no way around fooling the ECU that it is there, so all piggy back ECUs will still show the CEL. Only one I know won't throw is AEM.
It won't hurt the car in anyway it not being there, but if something does go wrong with your car the CEL will already be shown so you will not be alerted of the problem.

The air pump only functions on and shortly after cold startup, right? If there really is no downside to removing it (aside from emission controls, I'm on a huge weight savings kick anyway) I'll look into what would be required to fool the ECU to remove it. I'd wager that a simple resistor would do the trick, and figuring that out is a simple matter of diagnosis with a multimeter.

I'll look into it. If it's beyond simple electronics, though, I probably won't go through with it.
