Default Replaced: Center console cover

Finally decided to replace the center console leather cover. It was peeling since I bought it (over 2 years ago) and finally decided to fix it. Total cost was about $5 although it could cost ~$10 if you pay someone for a piece of the fabric. I got mine for free so anyways on to the pics:

You need sandpaper and contact cement:

And some fabric. I got a piece of this very nice carbon-fiberish looking fabric:

Sanded down to remove previous residue and to roughen it up so contact cement adheres better. By the way, this center console is really easy to get out. Just pull up from the sides. When you do the front don't go too hard because there are some wires for the turning lights thingy and the top raising/lowering lever.

Work from the center out. The front will be more difficult to glue so when you get to the edge just tuck it down. Here it is getting the nod from Lucas.

Looks sweet now! I think?

By the way if you use contact cement I suggest you use it where there's good air ventilation because I think the fumes gave me a headache the next day.

The seats are Sparco Roadsters and I like them because they do save quite some weight. If I could do it all over though I would probably go with something a bit smaller like Sparco EVO or Recaro SPG (I think they're narrower?) because in the current ones the side bolsters rub a bit when I open the glovebox.

its better to not remove the foam cushioning, just put your fabric over the stock foam. spray glue the back of the console and stretch your fabric over the back on to the glue.

Did you put new cushion on before putting the carbon fiber vinyl stuff?
