Default Which resonator size?

I have the HKS Hi-Power dual which I think is 60mm. I think I might have the HKS resonator rattle problem because there is a rattle sometimes coming from right where the resonator is.

I was thinking about maybe just replacing it with the Vibrant Performance Ultra Quiet Resonator and want to know if the 2.25 inch or 2.5 inch would be better for the HKS Hi-Power 60mm.

I like to keep exhaust diameter as constant as possible to keep flow velocity constant which I've been lead to believe is beneficial. I avoid abrupt changes. 2.5" is 63.5mm. 2.25" is 57mm. What's your cat diameter?

Yeah, I am wanting to keep it about the same size but they only have 2.25" and 2.5" which is about in the middle between 60mm.

So with a resonator is it better to go slightly bigger or slightly smaller?

Bigger.

I think the 2.5" pipe will slip on to the 60mm piping. You just need to clamp it down.

It might not even be the resonator rattling. It just sounds like it is coming from that location. If it is I will probably expand the HKS pipe a few millimeters to fit the 2.5 inch and get exhaust clamps to clamp the new resonator on or maybe have it TIG welded. Do you think exhaust clamps will be fine instead of TIG welding it on?

if the pipe slips with very little or no side to side movement, I would think clamp is sufficient. Can't go wrong if you weld it, though.
