Hey all,
I have an '00 S2000 that I got a year and a half ago. Ever since then it's had a problem where the right taillight sits proud to the rest of the body. If I was at home I would tear it apart to see what the problem is but I'm at school right now and don't want to have to start another project in the Subway parking lot, haha. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
There is a gasket on the backside of the light that seals the light housing to the car body. Never seen this before but my guess is you will find two gaskets stacked (thereby pushing the lens out). Maybe the mechanic replaced it without removing the old when your noted accident repair was performed. Removing the light is quick so you can compare the two seal configurations (left light vs right light).

P.S. Walmart has better lighting
If its been rear ended, they may have just pushed the "bucket" out too far when they fixed it.
When I bought a car that had been slid backwards into a tree, I finessed the bucket and rear QP back into place with a 2X4 and a large deadblow mallet.
I'm having a hard time actually recommending this to you, in case it doesn't work out.
