Thumbs up S2000 Catalytic Converter breaking up!

Don't know if anybody else has suffered this from this but noticed a rattle coming from My S about 1k ago (thought it might be the CAT heat shield working loose). Have just had the car service and the dealer has informed me that the rattle I have been experiencing is the Catalitic converter breaking up inside!!!!!

He informed me that he has not seen this on an S. Mine has only just covered 63k so I was rather suprised at this, my mot isn't up till April so no great rust to get it changed (apart from the annoying rattle!!!!) however was shocked at the price of the replacement part from Honda at

How is the situation in the UK with running a test pipe?

Otherwise you can buy one on the forums for cheaper - at least on this side of the pond.

Gut the cat, or get a test pipe and you will never have that problem again.

I had mine replaced under warranty this year. Here in Canada the cat is covered for 8 years (Don't remember how many kilometers). The loose material inside the cat actually broke the O2 sensor also. The dealer replaced both parts under warranty.

I had a rattling Cat - thought it was breaking up inside - upon inspection - this is what was causing the rattle - the tip of the 02 sensor had broken off - sensor didn't throw a code .... replaced sensor at same time I swapped cat for Berk TP...
