Default S2000 hitches

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a hitch to install on my AP2. I don't want to modify anything (especially the bumper!) From reading other threads, on ap2's the only option for this is the Chase hitch. I'm perfectly fine with spending the money on a chase hitch, but unfortunately Chase Race is not responding to my emails nor my calls. With the weather getting nice again, I need to get a hitch to take my bike out.

Are there any other options? I've been searching for used chase hitches with no luck. From reading, the curt hitch requires "slight modification" of the bumper, in the license plate area on ap2 bumpers.

I remember seeing some older posts of the gladman hitch actually bending under the weight of a loaded bike rack. For that reason alone I would go with a different hitch (or you could possibly reinforce the gladman before you install it). I'm sure if you search around here a bit you can find the posts.

Very useful info. I suppose I had the curt hitch mixed up with another because I thought the bumper had to be modified on ap2s. Although I love the simplicity of the chase hitch install, it's not an option so I guess Curt is the only way to go at this point. Thanks for the help.

Note, the Gladman hitch has been redesigned for additional reinforcement in that area and is no longer an issue.

Gladman stole the idea for that hitch from Millions whose here on S2ki. Be a cold day in Hell before I'd give him(Gladman) a dime for his hitch. P/M Millions and he will give you the deign schematic for his hitch that he uses to pull a couple hundred to 1000 lbs w/o issue.

So you then have to find a metal shop and give them design specs to weld up your custom hitch versus buying a commercially available one?

That just seems dumb. I'll buy the one that doesn't require me owning a welder to make.

I ordered a new in box curt hitch off of eBay, which also includes the wiring module for trailers. I paid about 160 shipped, pretty good deal if you ask me

That's one good thing about being older is that back a few years ago if you wanted a good hitch you had to go get one made. Not saying the ones that are mass produced are bad, but if you want a good one its best to have one made. Its not as expensive as you might think.

I do think giving Gladman any money for a hitch that he stole from a member on here is dumb.

To each their own I suppose, seems like way more effort - and likely similar cost. The Gladman one is $300 on their site, I can't imagine you come out too much cheaper having to purchase the metal and pay a shop to do it? Then powdercoat it on top of that.
