S2K Engine Build
My car currently makes 281hp with bolt ons, the rest is suspension and a 4.44 final drive. If you can become good behind the wheel you can make this car lap a lot of 400-500hp cars. Those guys put about 15-20mph on me down the straightaway but I catch them on the back half, just look at the ASM car, 320hp and better lap times than a 550hp S2000 on Tsukuba. Obviously if you're going to pick a home track that has a 2 mile straightaway then you need more power, but with gears and some mods the car will accelerate to 100mph the same as other cars with 50-100hp more because they're usually a heavier platform. I'm in no way a good driver either, I only do 1-2 track days per year and locally theres a guy that can run 2-4 seconds faster than me in his S2000 because of Aero and he has way more track time, and he's just plain better
. Just my $.02

Where is that 281 number coming from? What bolt ons do you have where you found 40 hp over the stock engine rating?
The other issue with the car is the trans , 2 gear slips a lot ! Atleast once a day in normal 3-4 rpm shifts
So if I get a new transmission that's going to be a decent amount (not quite sure the exact amount of a trans and Labor to remove and replace) if that is going to cost 2 or so k plus if the engine goes why not just spend 12 and have more power and a newer engine)
Granted if I can spend 5 on the engine and trans and make it more reliable than it is, I will do that ... But no matter what the trans needs to go soon ... I figure to have more power and more reliability for 12k (LSx swap) seems like the best option ?

The gears slip? Its more likely the clutch that is slipping.
