Default The S2K Mount thread

Hello fellow s2k'rs

I bought an ap1 2003 with 115k for 5.5k. car is in decent condition, was taken care of but just the bare minimum.
It's all stock.
I took it to my mechanic and he said I need new motor and trans mount.
I been doing research on everything.
So much info on mounts; Spoon, Mugen, Haardline.
I prefer OEM, I want less vibrations since this is going to be my daily.

I ran into a couple of OEM parts from HondaPartsNow, first I'm not sure if this is all I need

is this a reputable site? Those of you in the know I'd appreciate it.
I also found more mounts on a website called RockAuto.

Thank you. I love my Suzuka!

Yup there is just 2 motor mounts and 2 trans mounts. Honda parts now is reputable. You can check majestic honda as well but I have found the prices to usually be the same once shipping is factored in.

Check the rear diff mounts too. You can usually tell visually if they are bad. The oil will leak out, leaving brown stains behind. Brown stains means bad mount.

The oil is used to damp vibes.

You may want to check Ebay for used parts.

I like Vibratechnic's for engine mounts. The street version is slightly stiffer than stock and doesn't vibrate your entire car.

i can also recommend these. I have them and absolutely love them. I feel no increased vibration over stock on an fi engine

You may want to check out the Spoon mount set. It comes with a reinforced trans mount however many have commented that after they bed in they hardly transmit any vibes to your cabin while maintaining a stiffer hold on the engine than OEM. Not badly priced either. Check www.rhdjapan.com

Awesome! I didn't expect this many responses.
I figured that there's no point in getting OEM if I can get something re-inforced and that will last longer.

As of now, I'm leaning towards Vibratecnics motor mounts. I tried looking for their trans mount but they don't make any.

Which maker of trans mount would be best to combine with the Vibra's?

I really appreciate it! Next up is Billman's TCT update and then Bilstein suspension.

A word of warning about the Vibratechnics though - at stock idle rpm the vibrations are pretty strong and I eventually swapped mine back to stock because of that. I did have Vibratechnics mounts in my RSX with a programmable ECU that let me adjust the idle rpm to minimize vibrations, but since you have an '03 that would be cost prohibitive just for this.

Were the vibrations that bad even after the Vibratechnics mounts were worn/broken in?
