Default Second Floormat Anchor addition.

I purchased CR floormats because my original floormats were worn to pieces. Also since i have an '01, i only have 1 floormat anchor. Does anyone have any instructions on how to install the second floormat anchor? If no one has done a write-up for this then this will eventually turn into a DIY for the FAQ, but if this already exists, i would appreciate a point in the right direction.

I am assuming i will have to cut a portion of the carpet to install the second anchor and then possibly drill into car itself. I received the anchor today, but will wait until i receive the floormates themselves so i can make the proper measurements before i drill.

not sure about on AP1s, but the floor hump on my car had a place for the threaded insert to be plugged into, just had to cut the carpet open to reveal it.

^^ Thats probably the #1 annoyance in the '01. I had the same issue for a while. Each time I'd get into the car I had to straighten it up. I drilled the beam and added the second anchor and got AP2 mats. problem solved.

This is also the biggest pet peeve in my MY01! I haven't cut the carpet to see if there is another threaded anchor, but I would guess we will have to drill a hole in the hump.

No hole in my 2001. I just lined up the bracket and mat after pulling the carpet and drilled a hole. I just screwed straight into the sheetmetal, then removed the screw and painted the hole, then reassembled everything. The scariest part is cutting the carpet for the anchor to come through.

Its easy to do. You dont even need to remove the seat, just scoot it all the way back. You do need to make a few cuts on the carpet to emulate the left side were the stock single anchor is but its no biggie. Im using the same OEM anchor on the right side w/ a screw.
