Default single exhaust cap install

alright, so i installed gtmotoring's carbon single exhaust using the 3M double sided tape that is pre-applied to the unit. next day it was peeling off, not just on the car side, but it was peeling off the exhaust cap also. when i went to pull it off, it basically flew off.

i cleaned the bumper THOROUGHLY with degreaser, let it dry and applied the cap in 1 motion, without peeling the tape off and reapplying. once that tape is applied and removed, it basically won't stick permanently again. i installed JDM side skirts on my EG (back in the day) with 3M tape and it held for a LONG time and when i finally parted the car out, it was a royal pain to get the tape off. so i know it works.

soo, i bought a 2 part epoxy, from home depot, comes in a syringe, cleaned the bumper again, applied t epoxy to the perimeter of the cap area and stuck the cap on the bumper. i held it in place with a series of clamps, set it 5 minutes, let the car sit overnight. everything looked great, then yesterday (about a week after epoxy install) the lower left corner was coming up.

anyone have any recommendations? i'd try the tape again, but it's a real pain in the ass as you HAVE to line things up PERFECTLY the FIRST time.

with epoxy at least you have the ability to move it around a little if you need to.

thanks

I just screwed it into place on the bottom of the corners so you can't see the screws.

You're gonna need to screw it in. Alot of people have this issue. You can screw the top down from the back inside of the bumper.

this blows, all the reviews i read about this thing before i bought it were "IT FITS PERFECT!!!"

blah, anyway, gonna try another type of epoxy and rivet the bottom on

anyone else notice that the cap is more straight across, while the bumper has a slight curvature to it? it causes the bottom to be slightly wavy too

i'll post again if i get it to work out

Try sanding the sides where the bumper and cap meet, maybe that'll give the expoxy something to grip on. Preferably a low grit sand paper.
