Default Soft Top Install

Well after the Volk TE37s, Hankooks, Windshield, Taxes, Lug nuts, Detailing products, and the actual Soft Top, I can't afford to spend another $500 on having someone install the soft top! In the next few days I'll begin the process of doing the install myself (not good at BIG projects) I am going to need EVERY bit of help you guys can offer.

On another note, what can I do to prevent the next top from tearing? Should I use fabric from the old top to make the wear points double thick?

Theres an awesome write up on this site, it goes through all the steps pretty clear, and alot of people have used those lizard skin things for mountain bike brake levers to wrap around the bar where it wears through the top. I myself will be installing my soft top hopefully sometime next week with a friend. If you still havent done yours by then, pm me ill let you know if theres anything to look out for. Oh yeah one main thing, dont cut your side cables when taking off the old top. The new one doesnt include them

Sweet I may just wait for you to start lol. Wouldn't the bike grips be to "grippy" against the top?

Do you think I should just bite the bullet and pay someone to do it?

Unless you know what you're doing, then yes.

To be honest, i wouldnt pay someone to do it, if you take your time and read then reread, then reread the instructions before starting, you should be fine. And no not bike grips, theres goofy little neoprene sleeve things, about 2 inches in length their called lizard skins. You can google them. The one big thing your gonna want an extra set of hands, they dont need to be mechanically inclined just need to hold the top while you bolt it down. Just take your time, youll be fine. Its not worth $700 in my opinion to pay someone to install a $600 top haha
