Default spoon hardtop, the facts...

Ok, someone should make this a sticky once we get all the right info. Hope this is not a repost, I've found lots of other posts, most of them go no where and are not fully answered. I've never found one that answered my questions fully...

Spoon Hardtop

1.Can they go onto a bone stock s2000, any year, with the top folded but still installed.
2.Can you easily access the trunk with the top installed.
3.Can you actually get the rear window for the street version. Has anyone ever seen a US spec street car with one.
4.MSRP is about $4k?
5.Did Shine Auto ever make one?

just want to clear it up. Its a beautiful top, and i've heard all sorts of stuff like
"you cant access the trunk", "it only works with a roll cage", "you cant get the side windows", "you can get the side windows", "shine auto will have one for sale", ext. ext.

Looking for facts
Thanks!

1. Yes, it can go on a bone stock bodied s2000, any year, with the top in the "down" position.
2. Yes, you can easily access the trunk once you've "tweaked" the pins that hold the rear piece in place so that the holes line up better (takes 5 minutes to set up). The only PITA is where to set the back piece of the HT when you're putting stuff in the trunk.
3. Yes, bulletproof automotive offers their mooncraft remix upgrade that adds the side windows along with weather stripping to make it more "street" oriented.
4. Correct.
5. My HT is a Shine Auto HT, I believe. I got mine from Partshelper. It comes in both versions, with the side windows and w/o.

right, you do NOT need a rollcage to install this HT.

Yep, that's the one I'm referring to...and that's *about* what I paid ( got mine in a group deal, so I'm not going to disclose the price, that it's CLOSE to that).

So how is this one different than the spoon one, other than about $2000 extra.

Does it come with all the hardware, mounting, weather stripping, quality, ext.

In the link, the pic they have of the top looks like it does not have any windows, i'm assuming they come with it.

Are the windows bolted in, glued in, lexan, plexi, real glass, rear defrost, ext.

These tops come paint ready?

Any more pics of your ride? You didnt get the side windows, right?

Thanks,

I'm sure there's slight differences in the actual construction between the Spoon and the Shine...the Shine comes with the window molding but no weatherstripping, but you can get that at any hardware store. The rear window is glued in, and it is real glass. Very little prep work was needed before painting, but I do wish they'd have used some filler to smoothen out some of the waving in the fiberglass...you couldn't tell it was there before the paint job, but now that it's painted you can see that it's not perfectly smooth in construction. Tons of pics can be found by searching for post from me in the gallery
I did NOT get the side windows...when I got my top they weren't yet available. I'm happy with how mine looks though, but I do plan on getting some Spoon wide angle mirrors to help with the blind spot on the passenger side.
