Default stock exhaust

I am installing a turbo charger for my 06 s2k. only problem i have now is the exhaust. i live 1 block away from the police station and i just NOW notice them pulling cars over for exhaust noise. my car is already in the shop and being worked on. what do you guys think about running stock exhaust for a turbo charge s2k? i know that i will be loosing lots of power but will the back pressure harm the engine or turbo? just how restrictive is the S2k stock exhaust? what about high flow cat with stock exhaust? please help!!!

the stock exhaust will be extremely restrictive. you could run the stock exhaust, and then a butterfly valve to a dump tube when you want to make power and closed to not draw attention to you.

(this is assuming you arent installing the greddy kit)

I wouldn't worry to much about it, sense the turbo actually muffles the exhaust.

Is the problem noise or having an aftermarket exhaust?

If you're turbo and running a quiet 70 - 75mm cat-back you should be able to keep the dBs down with sane driving. Just watch those cold starts near a cop on a donut break.

First of all, frankly, I would listen to advice from personal experiences only. otherwise, you're just going to get a bunch of opinions without depth.

So from experience, let me tell you: I have been rocking the stock exhaust on my mase kit with testpipe/ no cat and it is the most BEAUTIFUL SOUND EVER (IMO)- its so quiet, and opens up (sound wise) better than any other exhaust Ive heard for a daily without drowning the spool- have it tuned properly and you'll be fine. I never had a problem.

Its funny because im actually contemplating getting an aftermarket exhaust to increase hp by maybe 20-30, but I am so in love with the OEM sound on boost that its made me hesitate the idea for months!

think of the pros for keeping and tuning to your oem exhaust:
- Quiet as a mouse when it needs to be, but opens great- it makes your boost sound louder because it doesn't drown out the spool
- makes a great sleeper effect from the rear
- it won't attract cops
- it looks mature
- it saves you tons of money and its already installed

so the question comes down to if you are willing to risk ridding a good sound, more money, and time for a 20-30 hp gain. This isn't to say aftermarket exhaust won't make it sound nice, but is it worth it?

here are the best videos i have of the stock exhaust sound with boost- hope it helps! I have more vids on my youtube channel if you need more references
